US Club Soccer PDP expanding
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 6, 2014) – Beginning in early 2014, as part of an expansion of US Club Soccer’s id2 Program, US Club Soccer's Player Development Program (PDP) will grow to offer new expanded PDP pilot programs involving additional age groups and more frequent training opportunities for some of the country's top players.
PDP pilot programs will be initially launched in selected areas of the Midwest and in the Southeast, with specific dates and locations to be announced in the coming weeks. More PDP pilots may be launched in additional areas over the course of 2014.
Each PDP pilot program will include four events throughout the year, with each event including players from the U-13 through U-18 age groups. With four events over the course of the year, the developmental impact of the PDPs will significantly increase for participating players.
In addition, by expanding to include players at all youth age groups at U-13 and above, the program will provide opportunity and exposure to top players of all ages throughout their youth career. As is the case for id2 Program and PDP events, there is no cost to participate in PDP pilots.
US Club Soccer’s PDPs are regionally based identification and developmental programs conducted within the id2 Program umbrella and focused around National Premier Leagues and other top leagues in specific geographic areas. PDP invitations are based upon scouting within NPL and other top clubs and leagues, as well as objective recommendations from Directors of Coaching. Each PDP event includes a training session, an internal competition, and occasionally an off-field educational component.
id2 Program staff are on-site at PDP events to scout players for potential inclusion in id2 Training Camps.
Both the id2 Program and PDP, including PDP pilots, have been granted Olympic Development Program status.
