U.S. Defender Bindon Joins Reading FC
U.S. youth national team defender Tyler Bindon has signed with Reading FC in England, the team announced this week.
Bindon, part of the 2023 recruiting class, had previously committed to play at Washington this fall. He's been training in England over the past six months after coming through the LAFC Academy.
“Tyler is a bright lad both on and off the football pitch who has the work ethic and determination for a successful career in the sport," Mark Bowen, Head of Football Operations said in a statement.
“It was clear very early on that we wanted to bring him in, but we have all had to be very patient to get this deal done. So we are extremely happy to have fended off serious interest from high-profile clubs, finalised the deal, and see him join us – and we look forward to seeing him develop and learn at this club.”
The center back has earned a pair of call-ups to the U.S. U19 MNT over the past year, including this year's trip to Argentina. He also is eligible to play for New Zealand, as his mother Jenny played goalkeeper for the women's national team and his father Grant played for the NZ volleyball team.
