U.S. Soccer names 78 players to Select Teams
November 30, 2011
The U.S. Soccer Technical Staff finalized its list of 78 Development Academy players who will be showcased in Select Games at the Development Academy Winter Showcase beginning Saturday in Sarasota, Florida.
It’s a list of heavy-hitters that will be divided into two 1995 teams and two 1996s.
Among the stars who will be on display are U17 Men’s National Team players Santiago Castano (No. 26 in the 2014 Top 100), Jake McGuire, goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, defenders Carlos Romo, Sam Tweeton and Matthew Dorsey.

The Select Game action is always a prime opportunity to see which standouts truly rise to the top. Last year in Phoenix, Arizona, it was a coming out party of sorts for current professional player Villyan Bijev who showed a glimpse of what made him a sought after prospect. Who will shine this year? There are plenty of capable names.
