Three minutes into Friday's group opener against Jamaica and the United States Under-20 Men's National Team held a 2-0 lead.

Quickfire strikes from David Vazquez set the tone in Friday's group opener, and the USA rampaged to a 9-0 victory in Mexico.

Vazquez was clinical in the game's opening minutes. He did extremely well to collect a deflected cross and lash home the opener; nearly from the ensuing kickoff he scored again, latching on to an underhit sideways pass, taking space off the dribble and scoring the second.

By the halftime whistle the lead had swelled to 5-0. Pedro Soma followed Vazquez with two goals of his own. In the 16th minute, he guided home a corner kick with his left foot. Three minutes later, he did well to corral a knockdown head from Marcos Zambrano, cut past a defender and find the bottom corner.

Vazquez turned provider on Cruz Medina's strike, the team's fifth of the game. He picked out Medina at the top of the six-yard box. With his back to goal, Medina spun on to his left foot and scored in the 39th minute.

With the lead, the U.S. attack didn't relent in the second half, scoring four more times, at a clip of about once every 10 minutes. Zambrano slotted past the 'keeper off a cross by substitue Zavier Gozo. Ruben Ramos Jr got on the score sheet, looping home a shot in the 67th minute from a headed clearance, making it a 7-0 lead.

Substitutes Nimfasha Berchimas and Niko Tsakiris rounded out the scoring. The result sees the U.S. sit in first place in Group A, with the next group match set for Monday, July 22 versus Cuba.

U.S. Lineup: Adam Beaudry; Aiden Harangi, Noah Cobb, Nolan Norris, Luca Bombino; Pedro Soma (Sergio Oregel), Brooklyn Raines (Nikolas Tsakiris), Cruz Medina (Taha Habroune); Ruben Ramos Jr., Macros Zambrano (Nimfasha Berchimas), David Vazquez (Zavier Gozo)
