U.S. U20 WNT defeats Jamaica 3-0
Behind goals from Savannah Jordan, Andi Sullivan, and McKenzie Meehan, the U.S. U20 Women’s National Team defeated Jamaica 3-0 in their second game from Group A at the 2014 CONCACAF Championship.
The win sealed the U.S.’s spot in the semifinal round with eyes on advancing to the 2014 U20 World Cup in Canada.
Jordan opened the scoring in the 31st minute when she brought down a pass from Morgan Andrews and lifted it over the keeper. Sullivan doubled the lead five minutes before half when she converted a penalty kick.
The nearly unanimous support in the crowd for Jamaica only grew louder following the penalty kick with the horns quickly picking up the buzz around the stadium for the underdogs.
The U.S. handled the hostility with ease and saw out the second half with limited pressure on Katelyn Rowland’s net. Meehan added an insurance tally late when she put her toe on a cross from Midge Purce for the third and final goal of the game. U.S. returns to the field on Monday for the final game from Group A against Guatemala.
