As the class of 2013 prepares for the start of college this fall, a handful of bright young soccer talents aren’t heading to campuses across the nation.
The small collection of players – Kellyn Acosta, Russell Canouse, Diego Fagundez, Zach Pfeffer, Paul Arriola, to name a few – have already signed professional contracts, electing at various points to roll the dice and head down that road, erasing their college eligibility.
In fact, nine of the top 25 players in 2013 IMG Academy 150 have signed on the dotted line somewhere, making a decision to take a path that is still changing and evolving in the United States.
It again raises the debate as to what is the best route for a young, aspiring professional soccer player to take.
