21st Century Model vote put on hold
It's been a long process for the men's Division I coaches working to implement the Division I men's soccer 21st Century Model proposal.
Now, with the coronavirus throwing just about everything into uncertainty, the vote will have to wait a bit more.
The crucial vote loomed at the end of April on whether or not to extend the men's DI college soccer season. It's now been put on hold indefinitely, according to a statement released by the 21st Century Model DI Coaches Committee.
"We remain steadfast in our belief that the 21st Century Model is in the best interests of our student-athletes and men's college soccer. However, with so much uncertainty, we will be committed to working with campus, conference and committee leaders to adapt, plan and prepare for a timely return to action while awaiting an appropriate timetable to reconsider our proposal and vote."
"We believe our attention now and in the foreseeable future must be on the health and safety of our student-athletes, staff and our community due to the Covid-19 pandemic." #21stCenturyModel @NCAASoccer pic.twitter.com/3Chc9MSvk9
