#25 Rangers Fall in RMAC Semifinal to Mines
The semifinal match in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament did not go as planned for the Regis University Ranger men's soccer team. The No. 3 seeded Rangers (13-6) were defeated 4-0 by the No. 2 seed Colorado Mines University Orediggers (12-7).
Regis suffered four first half goals and could not recover. The Orediggers scored their first goal of the match early in the 5th minute of play off a long thrown in. Mines would score again in the 24thminute when an Oredigger gained control of the ball in a scoring position inside the box striking the ball into the back of the net. Colorado Mines would score two more times, one shortly before the halftime break after being awarded a free kick.
The Rangers were outshot 24-8 with four of them being on goal. RU saw seven corner kick opportunities to Mines five. Junior goalkeeper Christian Nicolosi (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) started the match for the Rangers and made three saves and faced 12 shots. Sophomore goalkeeperConnor Adkisson (Federal Way, Washington) subbed in for the second half and made six saves while allowing no goals and facing 12 shots.
