#6 Cougars defeat Francis Marion Women
COLUMBUS, GA – Sixth-ranked Columbus State University scored a pair of goals in the opening six minutes and rode that quick start to a 9-0 win over Francis Marion University, Saturday afternoon (Oct. 15) in Peach Belt Conference women’s soccer action.
The Patriots will play at UNC Pembroke on Monday at 5 p.m., before returning home to entertain Georgia College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
A trio of Cougars (11-2-0, 7-1-0) scored twice: Mandy Janowitz, Nicole Corcione, and Cassandra Wade, with both Janowitz and Corcione also registering two assists.
All the scoring came in the opening half.
Francis Marion senior Kelly Anthony tallied a pair of shots, including a 45-yard attempt that glanced off the crossbar in the 50th minute.
Sophomore Patriot goalkeeper Casey Murakami registered six saves.
