Freshman Akindele Earns RMAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.: Regis University women's soccer freshman Sade Akindele earned RMAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors this week after her performance in the 3-1 win over Adams State and 3-3 double overtime tie with Fort Lewis College.
On Friday, the forward netted one goal over the Grizzlies.
Sunday, she scored first over the Skyhawks and again with one minute left on the clock to tie the match 2-2. Fort Lewis answered 15 seconds later to bring the game to 3-2 in favor of the Skyhawks, before Marissa Davis sent a free kick to the back of the net from midfield to even the score yet again.
The native of Thornton, Colo. ranks third in the RMAC with 30 total points and fourth with 12 goals scored on the season.
As a result of both women's and men's soccer teams finishing first in the RMAC regular season, Regis University will host the RMAC Tournament on Friday, November 2nd.
On Friday, Nov. 2, top seed Regis will host the winner between UC-Colorado Springs and Fort Lewis at 12 p.m. Second seed Colorado Mines will host the winner between Colorado Mesa and Metro State at 12 p.m.
The RMAC women's soccer championship game will be held Sunday, Nov. 4 at the highest remaining seed following Friday's games.
