Albano, Dorado Lead Saints to Another Win
Junior Gabby Albano scored her second game-winning goal in 48 hours as Siena Women’s Soccer shut out LIU Brooklyn 1-0 on the road. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Dorado made five saves for the Saints to post her second clean sheet of the season.
Albano accounted for the lone goal of the match just 50 seconds into the second half as Siena (4-2) defeated LIU Brooklyn (0-5-1) for the fourth consecutive season and fifth time in a row while outscoring the Blackbirds by an 11-3 margin. Senior captain Michele Tremblay took a feed from freshman midfielder Darby D’Angelo and crossed a service into the box which Albano headed in.
Albano and Tremblay have now each totaled five points apiece in three and four career matches vs. LIU Brooklyn, respectively. Albano also scored the game-winning goal as a freshman in the last meeting between the programs in Brooklyn two years ago.
With the score, Albano continues the monster start to her week as she has now factored in all three Siena goals through the first two of three games this week. She has already totaled five points this week which includes a pair of game-winning goals, as she also scored the golden goal in the 103rd minute of the Saints’ double overtime triumph over Vermont Wednesday.
Siena harbored a 16-15 margin in shots and held a 5-2 advantage in corners. Erin Harbison made three saves for the Blackbirds which are winless in their last eight matches dating back to last season.
Siena concludes its busiest week of the season featuring four matches in eight days when the Saints wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule Sunday at three-time defending America East Regular Season Champion and preseason favorite Hartford at 2 p.m.
