DETROIT (8/12/2017) -- The sounds of soccer filled the air at Titan Field as more than 20 alums came back to campus at the annual women's soccer alumni game.
The contest pitted the 2017 Titans against student-athletes from the past, veterans who came back to enjoy the game they love to play and to help get this year's squad ready for the season.
"It is great to see everyone come back to campus," said head coach Mike Lupenec. "The game keeps growing every year. We have a couple of alums who haven't been back and to have them come out here and play is truly special."
The stars of yesterday played some tough defense, but the 2017 team was able to put in a goal midway through the first half. Despite a few shots on net, the Titans ended up winning, 1-0.
"This program is now 25 years old and we have so many great alums and supporters," said coach Lupenec. "So many ladies who have graduated and have great jobs and are role models for this program,"
The alumni game was the second of three preseason contests for the Titans, who will now get ready for their final tune-up of the season when they host Western Michigan on Monday at 3 p.m.
