ASU's Hathaway On NCAA Senior CLASS List
Kylee Hathaway has been selected as a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award. Thirty NCAA® women's soccer student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as candidates today for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate soccer.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
Hathaway is a BUSINESS MANAGEMENT major with a 3.52 GPA. She also is a member of the dean's list and has been selected to the Southwestern Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. She is a Golden Ambassador and a member of the pathways program. Outside of school she works with the Nehemiah Center working with inner city youth and the Special Olympics of Alabama.
Hathaway was named Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, College Sports Madness Preseason Defensive Player of the Year as well as several Southwestern Athletic Conference and College Sports Madness First Team selections. She has also set the single season record for goals against average (1.57) and the single season record for Shutouts (5).
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
From the list of 30 candidates, a national media committee will select ten finalists for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award in October. Those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships in December.
