BAKERSFIELD, CALIF.--Bakersfield dropped a 1-0 decision to Northern Arizona in women's soccer action Friday night at the Main Soccer Field.
The match was scoreless for the first 63 minutes before Cierra Gamble tallied the gamewinner when she scored off a Malia Tano cross. The Lumberjacks outshot the the Roadrunners 9-2 and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Bakersfield freshman goalie Megan Vina (McKinleyville, Calif., Arcata HS) made five saves in her first save.
"We need to take care of the ball and possession," said Roadrunner head coach Melissa Phillps. "We didn’t create enough attacking opportunities because we weren’t sharp with our passes; we weren’t sharp with our runs. Its difficult to create opportunities if you can’t keep the ball well and tonight’ we didn’t a good job keeping the ball and didn’t create opportunities from it."
Bakersfield returns to the pitch Sunday afternoon when the CSUB hosts Sacramento State Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
