BC downs BU, 1-0
BOSTON, Mass. – Kristofer Konradsson scored four minutes into the first half and the Boston College men's soccer team defeated Boston University, 1-0, on Sunday at Nickerson Field.
Boston College is now 2-0, while BU dropped to 0-2. The Eagles will next host Rhode Island on Friday at 7 p.m.
Boston University opened the game with two chances in the first three minutes but BC goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo easily handled the pressure.
Konradsson's goal came off a cleared ball by the Eagles on a BU set piece. The Eagles sophomore had space and carried the ball to the middle of the park. From 25-yards out he placed a left-footed shot low and into the far post for the 1-0 lead.
Piccardo, BC's freshman goalkeeper, finished the game with five saves and picked up his second shutout. BU's Michael Stone finished with five saves.

TURNING POINT
- Sophomore Kristofer Konradsson ripped a shot from 25 yards out to the right of the keeper. The low driving shot slipped into the far corner for a 1-0 lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU had the first chance on a misplayed ball by the Eagles defense. Giacomo Piccardo pushed the cross out of the box and the defense cleared the attempt just 1:30 into the match. BU had a direct kick just under four minutes into the play. Piccardo easily handled the ball.
- Boston College countered quickly as Konradsson found the back of the net for his first goal of the season on a shot from 25-yards out.
- The Eagles controlled play throughout the first half as they had a 7-4 edge in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks.
- In the second half, BC's attack continued to keep BU back on its heels. The Eagles managed 10 shots in the second half (17 total).
- Senior Adam French had a great chance in the 54th minute off a cross in the box but Stone came up with the save to keep the game 1-0 BC.
- BU struggled to keep freshman Mike Suski in check. He had a number of strong runs into the box, including two breakaways. The first Suski was whistled for a foul outside the box in a collision with a defender, the second the first-year forward placed the ball just over the crossbar.
- The Terriers best chances came in the final seven minutes but BC goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo came up with two saves, and freshman defender Victor Souza cleared two dangerous ball in the box to secure the victory.
GAME NOTES
- Boston College leads the overall series against BU, 28-18-9.
- The Eagles are 17-2-2 over the last 21 meetings. BC has not lost to BU since 2012.
