Beeston MAAC Offensive Player of the Week
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena Men’s Soccer senior captain James Beeston has been tabbed the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week. The Newcastle-Under-Lyme, England native tallied a career-high six points in the Saints’ season-opening 4-1 win at Sacred Heart Sunday.
One of just 30 candidates nationally for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award and a Preseason All-MAAC selection, the Siena center midfielder was a part of all four goals. He scored a career-high two goals – including the game-winner – and added two assists.
A First Team All-MAAC, All-MAAC Tournament Team and an NSCAA All-North Atlantic Third Team selection last season, Beeston now stands just three assists shy of surpassing Paul Laniewski’s ’87 career record of 25.
Beeston and the Saints return to the pitch Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Hartford.
