Beeston Named Academic All-District
Siena Soccer senior captain James Beeston has been named a Capital One Academic All-District First Team selection. The honorees are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for their combined performances both athletically and in the classroom.
By virtue of being named a First Team All-District selection, Beeston advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The Newcastle-Under-Lyme, England native has excelled both on and off the pitch for the Saints this season. Athletically, he leads the Saints and ranks amongst the MAAC leaders with 17 points on six goals and five assists this season. Siena's all-time career assists leader, Beeston was Siena College's Male Rookie of the Year in 2010 and a First Team All-MAAC, MAAC All-Tournament Team and NSCAA All-North Atlantic Third Team selection last fall.
In the classroom Beeston possesses a stellar 3.6 cumulative GPA while majoring in English and minoring in Business. One of just 30 candidates nationally earlier this season for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award, Beeston has been named to either the Siena College President's List or Dean's List in all six of his collegiate semesters to date.
Beeston and the Saints return to action tomorrow for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Siena Turf Field against Rider where he and his five fellow seniors will be honored prior to the match in a special Senior Day ceremony.
