Big 2-1 Road Victory Over Colorado Mesa
Denver, Colorado: The Regis University Rangers Women’s Soccer team bounced back from a home loss on Friday to close weekend play with a big 2-1 road victory over the Colorado Mesa Mavericks (0-6-2). The Rangers move to 5-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Regis offense was rolling in the first half, taking five shots with four corner kick opportunities but Colorado Mesa goalkeeper Sarah Schnetzler kept the Rangers from gaining any lead. Freshman forward Rikki Fix (Boise, Idaho) put RU on the board scoring her second goal of the season in the 53rd minute of play with sophomore midfielder Cat Anger (Rochester, Michigan) recording the assist.
Ten minutes later the Mavericks found the equalizer to even the score once again. Junior midfielder Sid Otto (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) put the game away for Regis in the 79th minute beating her defender and scoring an unassisted goal.
The Rangers outshot Mesa 10-5 with eight of those shots on target. Sophomore goalkeeper Kat Crump (Huntsville, Alabama) recorded all 90 minutes of action and tallied three saves, two in the first half and one in the second.
Regis is back on their home field for Parent’s Weekend as they host the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday, October 3rd at 1:30 p.m.
