Booth Breaks Record in Saints’ Shutout
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Junior goalkeeper Taylor Booth broke the program record with her fourth consecutive shutout as Siena Women’s Soccer blanked Canisius 2-0 at Siena Field. Ali Lewis and Brittany Pfaff both scored for the Saints.
Booth made three saves while also running her shutout streak to a new program record 386 minutes. The Saints’ (8-6-1, 4-2-1) goalie has allowed just two goals in six MAAC contests, posting a 0.32 goals against average and a .889 save percentage.
Siena was equally dominant offensively, outshooting Canisius (3-13-1, 1-7) 24-10 while holding a 9-3 edge in corners. The final margin could have been greater if not for Golden Griffins’ goalkeeper Megan Tock who made nine saves.
But Lewis and Pfaff would provide all the offense the Saints would need, scoring in the 42nd and 71st minutes respectively in leading Siena to the program’s most wins since the 2010 MAAC Championship season.
The goal was the first collegiate tally for the sophomore Lewis, a local product out of nearby Shenendehowa High in Clifton Park. Andrea Pereira and Matar Rahamim set up the score.
Meanwhile Pfaff registered her 12th goal in 15 matches, increasing her MAAC-leading scoring total to 28 points.
Siena, which entered the homestretch today in fifth place in the MAAC Standings, faces Iona, which entered today fourth, Saturday at noon in New Rochelle, N.Y.
