Boston University Holds Off Saints
Felix De Bona’s goal just 1:53 into the second half proved to be the difference as Boston University defeated Siena Soccer 1-0 Tuesday night in Massachusetts. Junior keeper Ryan Vyskocil made two saves for the Saints.
Boston University (2-1) created two scoring chances in the first two minutes of the second half and was able to cash in on the latter. David Amirani fed Anthony Viteri who crossed the ball into the box and De Bona headed it in for his third goal in as many matches to begin the season.
Siena (0-2-2) would control possession thereafter and create a number of scoring opportunities, attempting nine shots within the first 20 minutes of the stanza and 11 overall for the half, but couldn’t find the equalizer.
Reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Junior Rosero led the Saints with five targets, while four others attempted two shots. Overall, Siena held a 15-12 edge in shots, while the Terriers harbored a 4-2 margin in corners.
Matt Gilbert made four saves to post the shutout for BU.
