Brynjarsdottir signs with FC Bayern Frauen
Florida State’s Dagny Brynjarsdottir will begin her professional career overseas as she signed a contract to play with FC Bayern Munich.
The 23-year-old Icelandic international will join Bayern after signing a contract that will take her through the end of the season. FC Bayern Munich currently sits in second place through 13 matches in the Frauen-Bundesliga standings which is the main league competition for women's soccer in Germany.
“Dagny is a very talented and dangerous attacking player who can play both in attacking midfield as well as a forward,” said FC Bayern head coach Thomas Wörle. “I'm very excited to be able to work with such a young, determined player.”
“I'm looking forward to starting my professional career with FC Bayern,” added Brynjarsdottir. “My goals are to continue to develop as a player and to help the team reach their goals. I'm excited about the coming six months.”
Brynjarsdottir just wrapped up a brilliant four-year career at Florida State leading the Seminoles to a national championship in her final season. She leaves FSU ranked first all-time in career game-winning goals (19) and second in career points (111), goals (44) and shots (232). The Icelandic native was also named a finalist for the Honda Sports Award and garnered NSCAA first team All-America, ACC Offensive Player of the Year, first-team All-ACC and ACC Tournament MVP accolades this season. She received Scholar Player of the Year honors from the NSCAA as well.
