Buccaneers Fall AT Eckerd
St. Petersburg, Fla. – Barry University women’s soccer team fell at the hands of Eckerd College Saturday night, 2-1, suffering their third defeat in as many games.
The Bucs (3-4-0, 1-2-0 SSC) applied plenty of pressure on the night, out-shooting the Tritons 21-10, but were only able to convert once as Eckerd goalkeeper Morgan Crescent tallied five saves in the match.
Forward Sarah Wolfer got the scoring going with a second half with her first goal of the season to give the Buccaneers the 1-0 advantage.
Seven minutes later the Tritons found the equalizer on a goal off the foot of Meredith Mahoney. Then with the match knotted at one, the Tritons struck again in the 86th minute when Michelle Spesshardt connected on a header in front of the box.
The Bucs return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 3 when they host Tampa at Buccaneer filed. Barry will look to avenge a 3-1 defeat at the hand of the Spartans on Sep. 22.
