DAVIE, Fla. – Barry University’s men’s soccer team drew with the Sharks of Nova Southeastern University Saturday night, 1-1, in a double-overtime contest between the Sunshine State Conference foes.
Barry (3-8-1, 0-5-1 SSC) tallied the game’s first goal when sophomore midfielder Connor Randel found the back of the net, connecting on Kris Wilkinson’s ball from near centerfield played into the center box, giving Barry the 1-0 advantage. Randel leads the Bucs this fall with 4 goals.
Nova (6-5-1, 2-3-1 SSC) evened the score just over a minute after Randel’s goal on Riccardo Bini’s 7th goal of the season.
The Buccaneers put together a strong defensive effort in which the Sharks outshot the Bucs 23 to nine. Goalkeeper Fred Perez finished with a career-high 10 saves in the double-overtime draw.
With the tie, Barry picked up its first point in Sunshine State Conference play and they’ll turn their attention to Florida Southern College who visits Miami Shores this Tuesday.
