Bucknell Defeats Iona In Non-Conference Fina
NEW ROCHELLE, NY – In its final non-conference game, the Iona College women’s soccer program fell to Bucknell, 8-0. The Bison fired 18 shots, scoring four goals in each half. Junior Tiffany Martinez and freshman Kayla Wentworth combined to make four saves in net for the Maroon & Gold.
The leading performers were freshman Gabby Bair and junior Kendall Ham, each of whom had two goals for Bucknell. Freshman Lilly Courts chipped in with one score and one assist. By the end of the game, six different Bison players got the better of the Maroon & Gold defense.
Overall, the Gaels were outshot 18-4, and faced a 12-2 shot on goal deficit. Freshman Madeleine Lessard and sophomore Brianna Hernandez fired the two attempts that forced freshman goalie Dani Kaufman to make a save.
With the win, Bucknell remains undefeated at 6-0-1. Iona now stands at 0-7-1.
Next up for the Maroon & Gold is the MAAC opener on the road against the Siena Saints. The Gaels travel to Loundonville, NY on Saturday, Sept. 17 for a 1:00 PM kickoff.
