Bulldogs Challenge No. 4 UCLA
The Fresno State women's soccer team held No. 4 UCLA to a single goal in the first half, but eventually fell Sunday night, 4-1. Freshman Katie DeVaultfinished with a career-high nine saves.
The Bruins struck first early in the first half. Sydney Leroux connected from 15 yards out in the sixth minute for her fifth goal of the season.
With less than four minutes remaining in the first half, sophomore Kayla Kret headed in the Bulldogs answer on a corner kick from senior Molly Nizzoli. It was Kret's second goal of the season and Nizzoli's third assist.
Leroux would earn the game winner on a shot from the right side to the far post in the 57th minute.
Kret led the Bulldogs offense with two shots, one on goal. Seven of the 'Dogs' starters put in 90 minutes on the pitch including DeVault in goal.
Fresno State (3-3-1) continues its road trip in Colorado. The Bulldogs take on Colorado College (Sept. 16) in the first meeting of the two programs in over 16 years.
