Bunker Hill Takes Down Holyoke CC In Shutout
Boston, Massachusettes - With solid performances on both sides of the offense and defense, the Lady Bulldogs of Bunker Hill Community College systematically takes down the perennial powerhouse, the Lady Cougars of Holyoke Community College in a dramatic, shut-out fashion. In what will go down into the history books as a first time ever in several fashions, the Lady Bulldogs pulls off a huge upset with a 2-0 shut-out win over the heavily favored Lady Cougars of Holyoke Community College coming into Saturday's game (First lead, first win, first shut-out)
Getting a goal in the first half with a beautiful finish by sophormore midfielder Lauren Kett (Norwich, England) with an assist from freshman midfielder Charlotte Groves (Norwich, England) after a mad scramble in the Holyoke box after a corner kick. The Lady Bulldogs held on to the 1-0 lead to finish the half. Groves will strike again in the second half to seal the fate of the game with an awesome lateral cross from freshman midfielder Nicole McMinamin (Acworth, Ga.)
The offense for the Lady Bulldogs created and had several chances on goal with 12 shots on target out of 17 tries. The defense could not be outdoned by the offense and had a solid performance holding the Cougars to only 4 shots on target out of 10 tries. The Lady Bulldogs will go on to dominate the 50/50 battles winning it 63% of the time and even more impressive were able to keep the ball with a 62% Time Of Possesion, helping fresman Goal Keeper Cierra Ivan (Dothan, Alabama) to record her first ever college win and shut-out. The BHCC Lady Bulldogs will play again on Tuesday, Sept 4 at the University of Maine-Augusta at 3:30pm
