Campbell Tops ECU In Season Opener, 2-1 (OT)

<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;"><strong>BUIES CREEK</strong><strong>, N.C. -</strong> Ashley Clark scored the game-winning goal just four minutes into the overtime period lifting Campbell (1-0) to a 2-1 win over East Carolina (0-1) Friday night in the 2012 season opener for both squads at the Eakes Athletic Complex.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">With the game knotted at one, Clark received a two-time pass from Kirsty Meyer and Alexis Prada firing a shot from the left side of the pitch just outside the box past ECU keeper Christiane Cordero.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Campbell wasted little time in getting on the board as Taylor Brown staked the Camels to a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of play. ECU was whistled for a foul at the 6:50 mark and Brown scored on a free kick from 25 yards out for her first goal of the season.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">After a 90-minute lightning delay in the second half, ECU's Lexi Miller netted the equalizer on a cross pass from Rachel Fuller at the 66:32 mark. For Miller it was her third career goal, while Fuller was credited with her first career assist.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Campbell keeper Ryann Torrero faced 11 shots recording nine saves, while Cordero collected three saves. Chrissy Gratz led the Pirates with six shots (two on goal), while Miller, Hali Oughton and Rachel Wechsler each added two strikes.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Clark paced the Camels with six shots (two on goal) and Michelle Procaccini recorded a pair of shots.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">ECU out shot Campbell 17-11, 10 to 5 in shots on goal, while holding an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">The Pirates will return to the pitch on Wednesday, Aug. 22 when they play host to Old Dominion at the ECU Soccer Stadium with a 7 p.m. (ET) scheduled start.</span></p>

<li><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">ECU dropped its third-straight season opener … Last season opening when was in 2009 against VCU, 2-1.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;">Despite the loss, the Pirates hold an 8-5-1 all-time record against the Camels.</span></li>
<li>Senior Hali Oughton extended her consecutive starting streak to 41 matches, which dates back to Oct. 30, 2009 … She has recorded 57 starts in 59 career games.</li>
<li>True freshman Haley Patsey recorded her first collegiate start, while fellow classmates Kendall Frey and Kelsie Halstenrud each recorded a shot on goal in their first collegiate matches.</li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;">ECU's 10 shots on goal were the most since the season finale at home a year ago against UAB (12).</span></li>
