Cincinnati Claws Back for Draw with Gauchos
The University of Cincinnati women’s soccer team rallied to net two goals in the final seven minutes of regulation to force overtime and eventually record a draw against UC Santa Barbara in the Bearcats home opener.
The Gauchos’ (2-1-1) Madison Beckley had UC (2-1-1) sweating with nearly 20 minutes remaining of the match as she tallied her second goal to put UCSB up 2-0 on the Bearcats. But Cincinnati came clawing back in the final seven minutes of action as Danielle Rotheram (Toronto, Ontario/Holy Trinity/Central Michigan) and Jae Atkinson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) garnered goals to force extra time.
The two battled back-and-forth in overtime, but neither squad was able to record the game-winner and garner the victory.
