University of Cincinnati women's soccer head coach Neil Stafford announced the signing of 10 Bearcats for the 2015 season.
Stafford, with help from associate head coach Nate Lie and assistant coach Matt Cosinuke, assembled a solid class that includes six student-athletes from Ohio, including four from the Cincinnati area. UC also garnered four players that hail from Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee and Ontario, Canada.
"We are energized because these young women can perform and impact our program on and off the field as freshmen," Stafford said. "As we continue to build this program, we knew the class of 2015 had to have steady poise to live up to the standards we have established. These student-athletes can handle the pressure of making Cincinnati women's soccer great again."
UC's 2015 signees are Dionne Bailey, Jordan Cotleur, Mattina Girardot, Ashley Hickman, Jordan Hollmeyer, Rachel Holloway, Tiffany Huber, Kellee O'Shaugnessy, Kaleigh Piscioneri and Cassie Wheldon. These 10 student-athletes contain a variety of skills that will add depth to the Bearcats' roster at all positions. By position, Cincinnati adds four defenders, three midfielders, two forwards and one goalkeeper.
"We realize that the lifeblood of the program has to be the young women from the Greater Cincinnati Area," Stafford added. "Every local kid has a chance to help build UC into something special and become that hometown hero to young girls of the future. Based upon the momentum we are gathering and the direction that the program is headed, it's been nice to see talented, hardworking kids from the area get excited about Cincinnati women's soccer."
The 10 Bearcats newcomers will join the 24 returners for the 2015 season. UC finished the 2014 campaign with an overall record of 10-8-2 and reached double-digit victories for only the second time since 2002.
