Coley Earns WAC Defensive Player of the Week
EDINBURG – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Monday that University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) women's soccer freshman goalkeeper Aubrie Coley is the WAC Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the Broncs' undefeated week.
It is Coley's second honor of the season and the third award earned by the Broncs. Freshman midfielderAimie Inthoulay earned Co-WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors last season.
Coley recorded her second shutout by making seven saves in a double overtime draw at Texas A&M International. She followed that up by making five saves in a 3-1 win at Prairie View A&M on Friday.
For the season, Coley is 2-0-2 with a 0.45 goals against average and 0.45 saves percentage.
The Broncs (4-0-2) are just the third NCAA Division I women's soccer team out of 22 in the history of Texas to be undefeated through their first six matches at the DI level, joining Baylor (5-0-1 in 1996) and Abilene Christian (5-0-1 in 2013).
The Broncs next play against Abilene Christian on Friday at 6 p.m. at Incarnate Word.
