College soccer storylines to watch
There still is plenty to be decided about the status of Division I soccer for the 2020-21 school year.
In a normal fall, the season would be close and seasons previews would be rolling out. The final stages of preparation would arrive, and the chase for the 2020 Division I College Cup about to begin. But the COVID-19 pandemic has shifted things. A breakout at the University of North Carolina has already seen in-person classes halted at one school planning to play, with Notre Dame and Michigan State also moving to remote learning.
As of publication, four men’s DI conferences and six women’s are set to play some kind of competitive schedule in the fall. Plenty will be decided this week, and in the coming days, as a Division I Board of Governors meeting could provide more guidance.
Here are the storylines and issues to track in the coming weeks and months.
