Cowgirls Host Colorado College and Air Force
The University of Wyoming women’s soccer team, currently second in the Mountain West standings, faces a tough weekend, as the Cowgirls host third-place Colorado College on Friday at 3 p.m. MT and fourth-place Air Force at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Both matches will take place at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex, where Wyoming is a perfect 3-0-0 this season. The Cowgirls split matches last weekend at Utah State and Boise State. Freshman forward Kaitlyn Lomsnes notched the lone goal in a double-overtime victory over the Broncos last Sunday.
“We are always excited to play at home,” UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. “The team knows we have two very good opponents this weekend and we have to prepare accordingly. We have started conference play strong, but it is 4 games of an 11 game schedule and we need to continue to improve game by game.”
Friday will be Wyoming's "Kick Out Cancer" where fans wearing pink will receive discounted admission to the match. Adults will be $5 and kids will be $3, as the first 200 fans will receive pink pom-poms. Sunday's match will be "Wyoming Soccer Day" where all Laramie and Cheyenne youth soccer players wearing their uniforms will receive free admission with the option to scrimmage at halftime and a free petting zoo.
