Crisafulli Corrals MAAC Rookie of the Week
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena Soccer freshman striker Matt Crisafulli has been heralded as the MAAC Wilson Rookie of the Week. The Selkirk, New York product came off the bench to score his second goal in his first three collegiate matches in Friday’s 2-2 tie against Binghamton.
Just 50 seconds after Siena had rallied to tie the Bearcats, Crisafulli put the Saints in front. In the 54th minute he took a well-played through ball by senior midfielder David Itoafa, beat the Binghamton keeper to the spot, and made a nifty move to get around him and finish the go-ahead tally.
Crisafulli has been a spark plug off the Siena bench over his first three collegiate matches. In addition to scoring twice, he has put two of his three shots (both goals) on target in a total of 92 highly productive and active minutes.
Crisafulli and the Saints return to action Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Holy Cross.
