Crisafulli Wins MAAC Offensive Player of Wk
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Junior Matt Crisafulli was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon, in the league’s final weekly award announcement of the 2018 season.
Crisafulli led Siena Men’s Soccer to a Senior Day victory over league foe Saint Peter’s in their final contest of the season on Oct. 21. With the score tied at nill and overtime looming, the Selkirk, NY native headed in goals 41 seconds apart, notching the first multi-score performance of his career and sending Siena off with a 2-0 win over the Peacocks.
The late-match burst gave the midfielder the team lead in points (9) and placed him in a tie for the most goals (4) on the season. The 2016 All-Rookie Team selection also scored in non-conference bouts against Lafayette and Sacred Heart, garnering an assist against Stony Brook. Crisafulli concluded his junior season with 15 shots on the year, including 11 on-goal.
The honor marks the first time since Sept. 26, 2016 that a Saint has taken home Offensive Player of the Week, and serves as the third career weekly honor for Crisafulli, who was twice named Rookie of the Week during his freshman season. He joins freshman Aaron Martin as Siena players to take home weekly league honors in 2018, with the Madrid, Spain native capturing MAAC Rookie of the Week a program-record three times.
