Cyclones Breeze Past Falcons
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Junior Samantha Sysak (Bayonne, N.J./Holy Family Academy) and sophomore Lorraine Dedrick (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) both scored a pair of goals as the Centenary College cruised to a 9-1 women's soccer victory over Cedar Crest on Thursday afternoon.
The Centenary offense more than tripled its season goal total and recorded nine scores against the Falcons for the second-straight year, while upping its record to 3-1-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference play (3-6-2 overall).
Senior Amira Guerrero (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) got a six-goal first half started in the fifth minute with her first goal of the season and Sysak followed with a tally to up the Cyclone advantage to 2-0.
Cedar Crest managed to slice the lead in half at the 18:52 mark, but just 26 seconds later, Sysak found the back of the net again to put Centenary back up two.
Juniors Laura Potter (Gilboa, N.Y./Gilboa-Conesville) and Becky Camp (Belford, N.J./Middleotwn North) both added goals, while Dedrick recorded the first of two scores on the day during the opening 45 minutes to make the lead 6-1.
The Cyclones continued to pour it on during the second half as sophomore Zanetta Cheng (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and junior Daisy Bazan (Peapack, N.J./Bernard's) both netted their first collegiate goals, sandwiched around Dedrick's second tally.
The Cyclones outshot Cedar Crest 18-2 and recorded three of the match's four corner kicks.
Centenary looks to continue its winning ways on Wednesday at Keystone (3:00 pm).
