Dartmouth Men's Soccer Falls, 3-2, to Tulsa
DALLAS, Texas- Tulsa's Stephen Roberson scored the game-winning goal with just 48 seconds remaining in regulation to send the Dartmouth men's soccer team to a 3-2 loss on Sunday at the SMU Invitational.
The Big Green had a chance to equalize the score late with a shot from sophomore forward Patrick Murray (Lakewood, Ohio) but Tulsa goalkeeper Michael Murray made the save and the Golden Hurricanes picked up the win.
Senior forward Lucky Mkosana (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) led Dartmouth (1-3-2) with four shots but the Big Green had several players put shots on goal. Junior midfielder Kevin Dzierzawski (Oakland Township, Mich.) and Murray each put two shots on frame in the contest. Goalkeeper Noah Cohen (Johannesburg, South Africa) made five saves in the contest.
Tulsa, who trailed coming into the second half, tied the game at 2-2 in the 59th minute of action. Roberson connected with a loose ball in the Dartmouth box and hit a shot from 11 yards out and put the ball just behind Cohen to notch the game at 2-2 late in the second half.
Dartmouth held a, 2-1, halftime lead with goals from Mkosana and Murray. The Big Green opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the game when Mkosana connected with a long leading ball from freshman forward Alex Adelabu (Houston, Texas). Mkosana got the ball on his foot and touched it under the goalie into the far right corner to give the Big Green the lead.
Tulsa equalized the game in the 20th minute with a goal from Omar Mata but Murray scored his second goal of the season just before halftime. The sophomore capitalized on a loose ball in Tulsa's end of the field and took a shot from 30 yards out that slipped right behind Murray to give the Big Green the advantage.
The Big Green concluded the weekend with a 0-2 record at the SMU Invitational after an overtime loss to host SMU on Friday (Sept. 9).
