DEL STATE'S REGULAR SEASON CONCLUDES WITH 1-0 LOSS AT HOWARD
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the 83rd minute, Howard University’s Jeseca Hinds scored the game’s lone goal to push the Bison, 1-0, over Delaware State University Friday evening.
The Hornets collected 10 shots on the day, eight coming in the second half. Sophomore Kaitlyn Schech (Abingdon, Md.) led the team with three shots, all on goal, while junior Kelsey Gibson (Elizabethtown, N.Y.) tallied two; both also on goal.
Freshman Katelyn Koslosky (East Islip, N.Y.) posted just two saves. The Bison received five saves with four coming from Kyra Dickinson and one from Chanel Bell.
The two teams went into halftime scoreless, with Howard (4-11-1, 3-3 Great West Conference) outshooting Del State, 4-2. DSU (2-14-1, 1-4-1 GWC) had numerous opportunities in the second half to score as they outshot the Bison, 8-4.
Hinds’ goal came off a rebound as she was attacking the net.
The season is not complete for the Hornets as they next participate in the Great West Conference Tournament, held next weekend in Newark, N.J. NJIT is hosting the weekend’s championship events. Team seedings and matchups will be announced by the GWC at the conclusion of this weekend’s conference games.
