Dimkopoulos, Lomino Tabbed Siena Captains
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women’s Soccer Head Coach Steve Karbowski has announced the appointment of red-shirt junior back Sophia Dimkopoulos and senior midfielder Deanna Lomino to serve as the team’s captains this year.
“Sophia and Dee have been great leaders for our program,” said Karbowski. “They both contribute in many ways on and off the field. They are well respected by their teammates, always put the team first, and work year around to have themselves prepared for the team. Sophia is a steady and consistent performer defensively. Dee has the versatility to play anywhere across the midfield, and is always 90 minutes fit. Their leadership, commitment, and character will be valuable to the team’s success during a very uncertain time.”
A native of Fayetteville, New York, Dimkopoulos has appeared in 38 matches including 21 starts over parts of three seasons. Last fall, she started all 19 matches at outside back for the Saints. The consummate student athlete, Dimkopoulos has been named to both the MAAC All-Academic Team and Academic Honor Roll in each year of eligibility.
A product of Hopewell Junction, New York, Lomino has seen action in 59 matches including 44 starts spanning her first three seasons donning the Green and Gold, totaling 13 points on three goals and seven assists. Like Dimkopoulos, she started all 19 matches last season and tallied five points on the strength of a goal and three assists. Lomino too has been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team and Academic Honor Roll in each year of eligibility.
