'Dogs Last Days In Bulldog Stadium
As the finishing touches are placed on the new soccer and lacrosse field, the Bulldog women's soccer team says goodbye to an era. Fresno State has called Bulldog Stadium home for 16 seasons and leaves the facility after the next conference home matches.
The Bulldogs final match in Bulldog Stadium Sunday, Oct. 23 is also senior day. In honor of the event, every fan in attendance will have the opportunity to win one of three gift cards to the Bulldog Shop. Grand prize gift card is $150, the other two are $75 each respectively.
About Louisiana Tech (8-4, 1-2 WAC)
The Lady Techsters are a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Head Coach Kevin Sherry is in his fifth season at the helm and has a 47-36-11 record overall, 7-21-5 in the WAC. Key players to watch are senior Olivia Lukasewich and sophomore Caitlin Updyke. Lukasewich leads the team with six goals and Updyke leads the WAC in shutouts (8).
About New Mexico State (8-6, 1-2 WAC)
The Aggies are a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Head Coach Blair Quinn is in his first season with the Aggies.A key player to watch is Katie Smith who leads the team in goals (5) and has 11 points this season.
Clean Sweep
Fresno State leads the series 6-0 and has not given up a goal to the Lady Techsters since the series began in 2005. The Bulldogs have outscored Louisiana Tech 13-0 over six season.
Breaking the Pattern
The Bulldogs are 0-2 against New Mexico State. The Aggies program began in 2009 and they have outscored Fresno State 4-1 in the series.
Bulldogs vs. The WAC
73-53-17 all-time against Western Athletic Conference opponents, the Bulldogs are 12-9-3 under Head Coach Brian Zwaschka. Fresno State has earned 48 shutouts against WAC opponents over the past 10 seasons, with 42 ending in wins. All six of their wins against Louisiana Tech have been shutouts.
Homecoming for Former Bulldog
Cortney Sobrero (`07) is in her third year as the assistant coach of New Mexico State. While at Fresno State she was a member of the 2005 WAC championship team and the 2006 squad that was ranked as high as No. 22 in the nation. Sobrero was a three-time All-WAC and two-time WAC All-Tournament team member. In 2004, she was the points, goals and assists leader for the Bulldogs and the goals leader in 2005. Sobrero currently sits fourth all-time in career points (60) and goals (25) and is ninth all-time in career assists (10).
Last Home Stand
The Bulldogs are 3-0-1 at home this season with only two matches remaining. They have a chance to make history as the only soccer program to have an unbeaten home season. The 'Dogs came close to the feat in 2007, 2004 and 2003 with lone at home losses.
Senior Send-off
Fresno State says thank you and goodbye to four seniors at Sunday's match against New Mexico State. This foursome combined for 16 goals (five gamewinners), 28 assists, 60 points, 225 shots and 20,834 minutes played to date.
Wreaking Havoc on the WAC
The Bulldogs set a program record by going 10 consecutive conference matches unbeaten. The loss to Hawai'i (Oct. 14) broke the streak that dated back to last season.
