Dorado Named MAAC Defensive Player of Week
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women’s Soccer junior goalkeeper Taylor Dorado has been named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week. The Guilderland, New York native earns the honor for the fifth time in her career, matching the program record set by Laura Ettinger ’12.
Dorado made a season-high 10 saves as the Saints battled Quinnipiac to a scoreless draw in the MAAC opener Saturday. The shutout was the 13th of her career, moving her into a three-way tie for fourth most in program history.
The Bobcats out-shot Siena 10-1 in the first half, but Dorado made five saves in the stanza to preserve the tie. She came up big again in overtime, making four more saves during the extra sessions highlighted by a denial of Ally Grunstein on a breakaway with 4:18 remaining in double overtime. The clean sheet was the second of the season for Dorado, who cooled off a potent Quinnipiac offense which had entered playing having totaled seven goals over their previous two matches.
Dorado currently ranks third in the MAAC in saves (38), tied for third in shutouts (two), and fourth in save percentage (.809).
Dorado and the Saints return to action this afternoon for a 4 p.m. non-conference kickoff at Big East foe Villanova
