YOUNG HARRIS, GA – Francis Marion University freshman Jonas Dovland knocked in his second goal of the season, but that second-half 1-0 lead would not stand up as the Patriots dropped a 3-1 decision to 13th-ranked Young Harris College 3-1 in Peach Belt Conference men's soccer action Saturday evening (Oct. 7).

Francis Marion falls to 6-4-0 overall and 1-3-0 in PBC action, while the Mountain Lions improve to 9-1-1 and 4-0-0.

The Patriots will travel to USC Aiken on Wednesday as they will compete against the Pacers at 7:30 p.m. The next home match will be Oct. 14 against Lenoir-Rhyne University with the kick off set for 7 p.m.

After a scoreless opening half, Dovland put the first score on the board after he collected the ball at the top of the 18-yard box and kicked it into the upper left corner of the goal at the 55:55 mark.

The Mountain Lions came back just seven minutes later with junior Mikie Rowe putting it into the back of the net off of a corner kick by fellow junior Alex Jacq, tying the score at one a piece.

Rowe then gathered a deflected shot by junior Carlos Gomez and put it past the Patriots' freshman goalkeeper Raul Guillamon Bejar giving YHC a 2-1 lead in the 71st minute.

With just under 12 minutes remaining in the match, Dani Fischer gave the Mountain Lions an insurance goal, going on to beat FMU 3-1.

Young Harris led the Patriots in both shots (21-5) and corner kicks (7-1).

Bejar saved seven shots while Young Harris's sophomore goalkeeper Alex Iglesias had three.
