Eagles Rally for Tie at Saint Francis (Pa.
LORETTO, Pa. -- Junior forward Jade Flory netted her first goal at Morehead State with just under seven minutes remaining to help the Eagles earn a 1-1 draw with St. Francis (Pa.), Sunday at Stokes SoccerPlex.
Morehead State (0-1-1) fell behind at 59:19 when Red Flash (0-1-1) senior Tesa McKibben, the NCAA Division I active leader in points scored, tallied her first goal of the year.
Flory, who scored 11 goals in two years at Youngstown State before transferring, got the equalizer at 82:43 following sophomore Macy Kootz's corner kick. It marked Kootz's second career assist. Flory is from Chambersburg, Pa., located just two hours from Saint Francis' campus.
The Eagles were outshot 21-9, but four of those shots were on target, while 10 were on frame for the Red Flash. SFU also outshot Morehead State 4-0 in the two overtimes.
MSU sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlynn Murphy registered a career-best nine saves, including four in the overtime periods. SFU fell to 0-1-1 as well.
The Eagles return to action on Friday for the 2013 home opener with Akron. Kickoff at Jayne Stadium is set for 6 p.m. ET.
