Eldorado's Hix signs to play for Fort Lewis
DURANGO, Colo. — Fort Lewis College women’s soccer coach Damian Clarke announced the addition of Jordan Hix to his 2012 recruiting class.
Hix, a 5-foot-9 player who saw action at midfielder and defender at Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, N.M., was a two-year starter for the Eagles.
She is also a member of the Rio Vista FC in Albuquerque, starting at midfielder for a club team that has been a regional semifinalist and finalist in the last three years. She scored game-winning goals in the regional championships for Rio Vista.
“Jordan is a player that we think could have an immediate impact in the program,” said Clarke, who begins his sixth season as head coach for the Skyhawks next fall. “She is a bigger athlete than many of those we have fielded in the past, and she could provide a physical presence that will compliment the middle of the park. Jordan is known as a player who can dominate in the air and has the ability to cover an amount of ground that will cause problems for opposing central midfielders. “
The daughter of Jason and Jodie Hix of Albuquerque, Hix maintains a 3.8 grade point average. She plans to study Sociology-Criminology option at Fort Lewis.
Hix joins a trio of players who signed with the Skyhawks yesterday: Brooke Milliet, a 5-foot-5 attacking player from Durango High School; Savannah Seiter, a 5-foot-4 midfielder from Durango High School; and Laura Tita, a 5-foot-9 central defender from Highlands Ranch High School in Lone Tree, Colo.
Hix and Milliet are teammates on Rio Vista FC.
Clarke expects to add to his recruiting class in the coming days.
Fort Lewis (15-3-4 overall, 10-2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) finished the season ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division II. The Skyhawks lose just four seniors to graduation: midfielder Sara Egbom, forward Hayley Hollenga, midfielder Jane Barden, and defender Michelle Felten.
