Elliott and Greeley earn All-Patriot League
November 1, 2012
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women’s soccer freshman Paige Elliott earned First Team All-Patriot League honors while junior Murphee Greeley garnered Second Team laurels, as announced by the league on Thursday. Both winners of Patriot League weekly awards on Monday, Elliott has been stellar at both ends of the field, posting two goals and two assists along with stellar defense, while Greeley leads the team with five goals and 12 points on the season.
Greeley garnered Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday while Elliott earned Defensive laurels. The freshman from Apison, Tenn. was named a College Soccer 360 Primetime Performer of the Week just five days prior.
Elliott has emerged as one of Lehigh’s top defenders, posting six points in 17 games (15 starts). She’s helped spearhead a defense that’s shut-out its opponent for the last 285:01 heading into the Patriot League Tournament this weekend. After allowing a goal 30 seconds into the Bucknell game, Lehigh hasn’t allowed a goal since, shutting out high-powered Colgate while allowing only eight shots (four on goal) in a blanking of Holy Cross. Elliott’s first-career goal came vs. Stony Brook while also scoring at Princeton and dishing assists at Columbia and against Holy Cross.
Greeley earned All-League honors for a second straight season after garnering First Team recognition as a sophomore. The Devon, Pa. native has increased her point total each of her first three seasons, posting 10 as a freshman, 11 as a sophomore and now 12 as a junior. She scored two goals against La Salle and Holy Cross while also netting Lehigh’s first goal of the season at Marist. Greeley added assists at Army and vs. Bucknell.
Fourth-seeded Lehigh will play at top seed Navy in the Patriot League Semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to face the winner of #2 Colgate against #3 American in Sunday’s championship game. The Mountain Hawks are eying their second Patriot League Championship in the last three years after capturing the 2010 title, their first in school history.
