Elliott named to Academic All-District Team
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For a second straight season, Lehigh women's soccer senior Paige Elliott has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, as announced on Thursday. Elliott is now in the running for Academic All-America recognition. The team was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Owning a stellar 3.98 cumulative GPA as a Chemical Engineering major, Elliott has enjoyed success on the field and in the classroom over her decorated career.
Elliott was named to the District 2 Team, which encompasses the Mid-Atlantic. She was one of four Patriot League student-athletes named to the Academic All-District Team.
Last season, Elliott became Lehigh's first Academic All-District honoree since both Liz Carlos and Glynn Fitzer were recognized in 2010. Elliott has continued her all-around success this season, playing in all 17 games with 16 starts while dishing an assist. More important than any statistics, she is a key member of the Lehigh defense, which has tallied six shutouts on the season including shutouts of Patriot League opponents Holy Cross, Colgate and Lafayette. The Mountain Hawks only allowed 34 combined shots and 14 total shots on goal over those three games, due in large part to the play of Elliott and the back line.
In the classroom, Elliott has tallied a perfect 4.0 GPA in all but two semesters so far, owning just two A-'s over her entire academic career. She's been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll every year and was named to the 2014 Academic All-Patriot League Team. A two-time winner of the team's Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, Elliott was a first team All-Patriot League honoree as a freshman and owns 11 career points (three goals, five assists). She's a team co-captain as well.
Elliott and the other first-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected.
The Mountain Hawks close out their regular season at American on Friday. Opening kickoff is set for 3 p.m. With a win (or tie), Lehigh could advance to the Patriot League Tournament (depending on results of Saturday's out-of-town games).
