Elmhurst Blanks Lawrence 3-0
ELMHURST, Ill. - Amy Baschen and Jackie Belmonte totaled four points apiece to lead the Elmhurst women's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout win over Lawrence University.

Belmonte netted a pair of goals while Baschen tallied a goal and assisted on each of Belmonte's goals.
The Bluejays jumped out 1-0 in the 17th minute. Biba Beckwith's breakaway shot was saved by Lawrence keeper Cassandra Burke, but Baschen was there to knock home the rebound and give the Bluejays a quick lead.

Belmonte made it 2-0 in the 59th minute. Baschen sent a cross through the box that Belmonte controlled and sent into the back of the net.
Eight minutes later, Belmonte struck again to give Elmhurst a three-goal cushion. Shelley Shapasian crossed the ball into the box and the ball deflected off of Baschen's head to Belmonte who tucked the ball into the net for her second score of the game.
Elmhurst (2-0) controlled the tempo, outshooting Lawrence (0-2) 24-4 in the contest.
Maddie Fitzpatrick played 80 minutes in net for the Bluejays and stopped four shots. Olivia Schoch finished up the game's final 10 minutes for Elmhurst. Burke recorded 10 saves while allowing three goals for Lawrence.
Elmhurst hosts Eureka College on Wednesday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m.
