Falanga's Late Goal Gives Terriers A Tie
Box Score Dominick Falanga ripped a game-tying goal from 30-yards out to give St. Francis Brooklyn a 1-1 draw against the Hartwick Hawks, on Saturday evening in Oneonta, New York. The Terriers are now 1-3-1 while Hartwick stands at 2-1-1.
Hartwick led 1-0 when Falanga surprised Hawks' goalie Lenny Wilson with a rocket to the upper left corner of the net in the 80th minute to force overtime. It was Falanga's first marker of the season and was unassisted.
The hosts took a 1-0 advantage in the 34th minute as Hamish Ritchie pounced on a deflection and fired a shot over the head of Terriers keeper Seth Erdman.
Hartwick oushot the visitors by a 5-2 margin in the opening half, but the Terriers went on the attack in the final 45 minutes, firing nine shots compared to just five by the Hawks.
St. Francis Brooklyn had the only shot over the 20 minutes of double-overtime.
The Terriers took six corners compared to four by Hartwick.
Erdman made five saves while Wilson recorded two stops for Hartwick.
St. Francis Brooklyn will return home on Wednesday evening to battle NJIT at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
