Falcons Drop 3-0 Decision to Bard
The Bard women’s soccer team defeated Albertus Magnus 3-0 in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon. Maddy Huggins assisted on the game winner then scored her first goal of the season to lift the Raptors to their season-opening win. With the loss, the Falcons even their record to 1-1 on the year.
Albertus’ Christina Dineson (Milford, Conn.) made 11 saves in 90 minutes played but allowed three goals as Bard outshot the Falcons 26-11 on the afternoon. Bard recorded 17 of its 26 shots in the second half, while the Falcons were limited to just four shots in the first half then seven in the second.
Perry Scheetz put the Raptors up early, scoring her first goal of the year in the third minute. Scheetz put a rebound into the back of the net after Huggins took the initial shot, which was stopped by Dineson.
In the 58th minute of play, Huggins received the ball in the box from Sylvia Kool, which she chipped in over Dineson to give the Raptors a 2-0 advantage. Bard extended its lead in the 85th minute as Brianna Bean scored on a rebound off a free kick shot from Isabel Keddy-Hector.
The Falcons will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 5 in a 4:00 p.m. contest against Bay Path College.
