FDU Posts 1-0 Shutout at Lafayette
EASTON, Pa. The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team snapped a mini two-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Lafayette on the road Friday night at Oaks Stadium. With the victory, the Knights improve to 3-3-0 on the season, while the Leopards fall to 3-2-0 overall.
The difference in the contest came in the opening seconds of the 23rd minute. Freshman Connie Lewis found fellow classmate Giselles Perez, who then found the back of the net in the upper right-hand corner from just outside the 18 yard line for her first career goal to give FDU a 1-0 lead.
Senior Sage DoVale made three saves for the Knights, who were outshot, 6-5, in the match. The clean sheet was the third of the season for DoVale.
FDU will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 15 when it travels to West Long Branch, N.J. to take on former Northeast Conference and in-state rival Monmouth. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on the Great Lawn.
