First Half Surge Send Holy Cross Past Saints
Holy Cross struck for four goals in just 12:33 midway through the first half in a 5-0 defeat of Siena Soccer in Worcester. Sophomore captain J.C. Obregon led the Saints with three shots, including one of Siena’s two attempts on goal.
The sides played evenly for the first 26 minutes, before Holy Cross (2-1) quickly broke things open. The Crusaders were aided by several bad bounces and a Siena (1-2-1) own goal on the rain-soaked field.
Five different players scored for Holy Cross, which was led by Matt Villano who netted a goal and an assist. Owen Azrak added a pair of assists for the Crusaders which held a 15-9 advantage in shots.
Senior Ryan Vyskocil and junior Aleksa Radosavljevic each played a half in goal for the Saints, making three and two saves respectively.
Siena will look to bounce back when they return to the Capital Region Saturday to host defending Patriot League Regular Season Champion Colgate at 3 p.m.
